If you have been following my Twitter then you obviously already know that I’ve been looking into purchasing a place of my own. I’ve been randomly tweeting here and there about home inspections and other house related things. Well this evening I received the news that I’ve been approved for a mortgage and that the house is in fact mine. So congrats to myself I guess.

It’s a brand new townhouse, already in the building stage. Thursday evening I have an appointment to finalize the building details. I get to pick the carpet, cabinets, counters, paint colours and how I want the kitchen to look. Later in the week I get to pick out my appliances.

The excitement has totally warn off. I’ve been sitting on this news for almost 2 weeks now, just waiting to hear back about the mortgage. I realize that this is a huge undertaking and some people have already called me stupid and are worried that within a year I will have to sell the place because I can’t afford the bills. I’m in the process of reworking my budget and I’m optimistic that things will go smoothly. By February 2012 I will be in my new place.
