Merry Christmas Eve eve?

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. With the lack of snow in my part of Ontario, you would never imagine that it was this close to Christmas, but it is.

Check out the gifts I’ve already received. They are from my students.

I already know that I have no gifts under the tree this year. Technically no one in my family does. The gifts under the tree are for my aunt, uncle and grandparents. I already received my christmas money and it went towards paying off my mastercard.

Each of my students received a christmas ornament. They are so thoughtful enough to get me a gift, the least I can do is return the favour.

While my mom and I were shopping at Costco this evening for our Christmas Eve open house I made a comment about how it does not feel like December or Christmas time at all. Can you believe it? The year is almost over. I must admit thou, I’m pretty excited for Jan 1st 2012 to come because then I can officially start counting down the days till I move into my new place. The current countdown sits at 39 days.

Speaking of the new place; today I received a phone call from the Brick informing me that there was an outstanding balance on my bill and that my appliance delivery would not be delivered on Friday unless the balance was paid in full. I was confused and a little shocked by both because I remember going to the Brick and paying the entire bill a few weeks ago. I have the recipes to even prove it, however when I called back my main concern was about the deliver date being for Friday. As in Friday December 30th 2011. I explained when my deliver date should be and once that was all straightened out the outstanding balance was explained to me. It ended up only being $10. Can you image if it was more. That would totally have ruined my night.
Turns out the customer service rep mistook a 9 for an 8 and didn’t quite charge me the full amount. There was no way for me to catch that because of the way my bill looks and the agreement I have with my home builder as to how much the base model appliance credits are. But it’s all sorted out and I’m just glad that I won’t be receiving my appliances next week. I was able to figure out that the entire price I paid for all 5 appliances is basically the price for my fridge. Insane.

In other news, yesterday was my Nonna’s 79th birthday. My family (minus my sister who was working) went over to her place with a cake. She seems to be enjoying herself a little too much, I think.

Well, I best be getting myself into bed. It’s past 10pm and tomorrow I have a house to clean and prep for a ton of guests. I’ll try to get some photos of the house decorated while I’m cleaning. My mom and I did things a little different this year with our yearly ornaments. Usually they just go on the tree, but not this year, and I can’t wait to do it at my new place.

Weekly Money Check Up {12/20}

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on Gas. Sorry I haven’t been doing the weekly spending recap. Things have just been so busy this month that I haven’t even had time to put anything into my budget. I just have a stack of recipes sitting beside my computer.

2. Today I am thankful that were are 3 work days left (after today) till I’m off for 2 weeks

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free thing I did last week that made me happy was was some movies. Being sick does have its benefits. lol

4. I will consider this week a success if I make it to the gym on Wednesday

5. One of my holiday traditions is the xmas eve open house that we have every year. I love love love it.

This Past Week..

This past week has been pretty busy. Every night I’ve had something to keep me occupied so I haven’t spent much time anywhere near my computer. The only reason I’m online right now is because I’m waiting on laundry to finish washing so it can be hung. I should be at Cassie’s but my throat has been worse then usually and I have a nasty cold. I don’t want to risk getting her family sick.

So what have I been up to. Allow me to show you with a bunch of photos.

Monday
My mom and sister returned from Vegas. I received some new hair clips and a key chain as well as a Las Vegas shirt.

Thursday evening was my works christmas social gathering and today I took a medical day due to my ongoing throat issue. While I was at the doctors I inquired about having my appointment moved closer and was basically told that there is nothing they can do. I am free to seek out a second opinion; which I plan to do because having to wait till June for an appointment with a specialist to find out if the mass on my vocal cords is cancerous is ridiculous.

Tonight I’m going to head on out to Cosco with my mom to do some grocery shopping, so that should be entertaining. Then I will spend this weekend making a list of items that I will eventually need for my house, once I move the end of January.

Kitchen is almost stocked

I spent the afternoon going through my boxes of windsor stuff that up until now I have not felt the need to unpack. Most of the boxes contained kitchen items or old school textbooks that I want to keep (haven’t figured out why thou yet)

As I was emptying out the kitchen boxes I put everything out on top of the pool table that we have in the basement that never gets used. I figured it would be a good area for me to be able to see everything that I have, and eventually figure out what I need.

So as you can see I do have a lot of items. Currently I know I am missing a few things; mostly pots, pans, dish towels and dish rags.

Anything else I might be missing?
