Waste My Time

Today is officially my last day off for Christmas Holidays. Obviously I get the weekend off, but it’s back to work for me on Monday morning. It’s been a nice break, not very relaxing but pretty decent. I’ve managed to fill every day with things to do, and complete things that needed to get done.

On Monday afternoon I drove up to visit Cassie and spent the night. She decided to try making Gnocchi so I assisted her in that.

I must say I’m suprised at how well they turned out. There was some help on my Nonna’s part since I called her about 4 times to double check things, but all in all I was amazed. This afternoon I’m going over to my Nonnas to learn properly how to make them. So I guess I’m not doing too bad with my 2012 Goals.

On Wednesday my mom and I ventured into the United States. I have a wedding in March so we were looking for a new dress for myself. The 2 I currently own I’ve worn to the last several family events for the last 5 years or so. It’s time for a new dress. However the trip was a bust. We didn’t get anything. I did try on a lot of dresses but none that I loved enough to pay for.

We ended up eating lunch at the Cheesecake Factor and wow was the food ever good. They menu is huge though.

Yesterday, being Thursday my mom and I had a final Mortgage appointment. I finally know the amount + taxes that I will be paying bi weekly. Now my head is spinning. I’m still unable to create a budget because I won’t know the amounts for my power, water and gas usage. I’ve been told various amounts from various individuals that I know, but obviously nothing is set in stone.

After the mortgage appointment we drove to visit my house. My mom has never seen it and I was pretty excited to see the kitchen, because according to this postcard that I received the end of december it was installed.

Well, turns out my kitchen is not installed.

Instead it’s sitting in the kitchen and the family room all wrapped neatly together. My builder told me it’s been sitting there since before christmas but would be installed by Tuesday. He also told me that next time I want to know the progress on my house to call him directly. Oh well.

My mom still got to see the house, so she was happy about that.

This is not the staircase I thought I was getting. It is the one that my mother liked for cleaning purposes. I would have preferred round spindles, but apparently this is an upgraded staircase railing. My paperwork say’s that we asked for the standard one; which would have round spindles but because a ton of upgrades were done to the house prior to myself purchasing it I can only assume that they included this as one of them. I’m hoping for some under the counter lighting since, my builder told me I’m getting it and the wiring and everything is in the house for it.

So that’s pretty much been my christmas break. I’ve got to finish up some laundry and then head on over to my nonnas for my cooking lesson. Then tomorrow I have a camera class I booked. I’m working hard on my 2012 goals!
